Effective utilization of cross-cultural teams can offer a source of experience as innovativeness in thinking to foster the competitive position of an enterprise. However, the variations in culture can disrupt the successful performance of businesses in various nations. The paper describes how various factors including political, cultural, social, educational, and economic can influence the opening and operating a fast food business in United Arab Emirates, Israel, Mexico, and China. That is because the countries named above have diverse cultures, customs, beliefs, attitudes, and values.
The fact that the four countries differ regarding cultures, customs, beliefs, values and attitudes which are different from those of the U.S. would have a negative impact on the fast food business. That is because much time will be taken before the different communities adapt to the new business. The country such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is Islamic-oriented, and usually, their religious beliefs have very strict requirements on the consumption of particular types of foodstuffs such as pork (Liu, Volcic, & Gallois, 2014). The Islamic religious belief prohibits the consumption of pork because it is considered as being unclean, the same way the Buddhism in China.  Also, in Israel, which is based on the Judaism religion prohibits pork consumption; hence this business will not do well in these countries. However, the numerous cultures in Mexico can open a way for the thriving of the fast food business.
The factors that can support the growth of the fast food industry in Mexico include the increase in economic earnings, the average age, and the changing roles of the working mothers. In Mexico, the average age is below 30 years as indicated by the Canadian market report of 2011; therefore the fast food business can do well because many of the consumers of fast foods are the youth and children. Also, the issue of many mothers being employed means that they will have little time cooking at home; therefore they will revert to the fast foods.  The family sizes in Mexico are shrinking as the mothers are also getting into employment thereby increasing the earnings of families.
The economic situation in China is typically the best-performing in the globe, and the fast food business will do well there because the people have the money to buy food. There is also domestic social stability in China whereby the families are closely tied together, and they do things in a community-based manner as compared to the disintegrated communism in the US. The issue of social stability is also a major factor that will contribute to the success of the fast in the UAE, Israel, and Mexico since they all have social stability although that for Mexico is slowly declining.
Also, it is imperative to note that there is leadership cohesion in China while the countries like Israel, Mexico, and UAE have stable governments. That means there will be a little negative impact to then starting a fast food business in these countries as far as politics are concerned. Issues that entail social conducts on clients and employees have to be considered before undertaking a fast food business. The high ethical standards and social manners, work ethics, and mindsets towards women can affect the fast food business in the countries such as UAE and Israel (Ni & Alonb 2010). High moral standards should be adhered to by the workers who will be working in UAE and Israel due to the strong religious beliefs that govern the people’s behaviors.
When the fast food business is started up, in the conferred countries, the services of Expeditors will be very necessary here before any efforts of expansion are conceived. The expeditors will help to make sure that the service being offered or any business operations are legal. Employing such people is commonplace in other countries, but ion the US is considered to be unlawful. Another very important thing that will be necessary for this startup business of fast food will be the development and implementation of the ethics code. That will help to govern the behavior of the workers who are working in different countries to adhere the codes of those specific countries so as to support the growth of the business.
The UAE has a completely different culture when it is compared to the US. Thus the managers of the fast food business will have to be trained on cross-cultural business before the launch of the business. They should also try to cope with the individual country’s cultural practices like having modest behavior and avoiding any illegal transactions. Mexico is also a Spanish speaking country, and it will be important if an interpreter is found. That interpreter should be gotten earlier enough before the business is started and he/she will help to interpret the between the two languages, that is, English and Spanish. He is also the one that will help in explaining some of the issues about the culture of this country.
