Iteration 4: Testing, implementation, and maintenance

    The system gets finalized and presented for validation and verification. The testing will get done to confirm the system meeting the user requirements. I will undertake the testing in units then a whole application testing to a full appreciation of the meeting of the requirements. After the approval of the.NET application, I will implement the application by the phased selection implementation approach. The phased implementation approach takes in the reduction of the risk, thus easy to manage and control the risks. The application will get set to operate the maintenance shall get carried every Saturday of the week. The iteration operations gave me the experience to appreciate the practical system testing, installation and implementation

What activities or tasks did you do?

The activities involved during the period included testing the system validation and verification. I performed the operation testing on the function of the system. I performed the white and black testing on the system modules including the database. I performed testing on the system conformity with the standard of the Dot Net application program. I corrected the system errors and bugs. I performed the system implementation process through coding the changes on observed from the system testing process. I installed the Dot Net system in to carry out different operations as depicted in the system requirement.

Who was involved?

The officer involved in the conduction of the system validation and verification was the system administrator Mrs. Tina. The senior information officer (SIO) helped me in performing the operation testing on the various functions of the system. The head of the innovation and research Mr. Raymond assisted me in performing the white and black testing on the system modules including the database. The auditor general Mr. Oleo helped me in performing system testing on the conformity with the standard of the Dot Net application program. The senior system programmer Mrs. Mercy guided me in correcting the system errors and bugs. The assistant system administrator helped me the system implementation process through coding the changes observed from the system testing process. The network administrator guided me during the installation of the Dot Net system in to carry out different operations as depicted in the system requirement.

What was the duration of each task?

The testing of the system validation and verification took two hours on Monday. The operation testing on the function of the system took three hours on Tuesday. The white and black testing on the system modules took two hours on Wednesday. The testing on the system conformity with the standard of the Dot Net application program took two hours on Wednesday. Correcting the system errors and bugs took two hours on Thursday. The system implementation process through coding the changes on observed took six hours on Friday and six hours on Saturday.  The installation of the Dot Net system in to carry out different operations as depicted in the system requirement took six hours on Sunday.

What went well or not so well?

Almost all the activities had effective and efficient performance except of the activities involving the system maintenance. The system maintenance activities involved the process of writing documentation as well as the compilation of the testing phase and implementation phase deliverables. The reason behind the limitation was due to the failure of the printing system and the application server that crashed during the process of documents production. The training of the system users had a schedule during the maintenance process. However, the training sessions never took place due to lack of proper coordination and communication among the departmental heads.

What did you learn?

The study has equipped me with system testing skills. I have learned the different methods of developing system functions according to user specifications. I have acquired the coding skills using the Dot Net programming language in the development of different system platform. I have learned different types of installation and transformation of the system from the current to the developed.  They included piloting, phasing, and step by step.
