         The main factor making quitting smoking difficult is its addictive nature. Nicotine always stimulates pleasure centers located in the brain. Whenever nicotine supply gets discontinued, the smoker experiences serious physical withdrawal symptoms. These effects make the person to start smoking again as a ways to   halt the withdrawal symptoms.

            The other factor making quitting difficult is the rewarding psychological aspects of Smoking. Behavioral as well as social aspects of cigarette consumption are always very rewarding to smokers. Smoking as a behavior becomes  tightly linked to daily activities  as well as  "cues"  like  after a meal, while  socializing with peers, while  taking  alcohol, to "have a break", while  stressed (as a  relaxer) and while  relaxing ( as a further  relax ).This psychosocial-behavioral part  of smoking is as challenging to overpower as  physical dependence.

            Research also asserts that genetics differentially leads to multiple smoking aspects like the urge to begin smoking, continuing to become a "smoker," etc. This perhaps, explains the reason particular people can’t stand smoking at all.  Some end up occasionally smoking in a "take it or leave it" attitude, and others end up becoming regular smokers.

            The other reason making quitting smoking hard is the environment.   Attempting to quit while in an environment full of its supply makes stopping hard. Such environments promote relapse as they remain tempting an individual. Quitting smoking also needs somebody who will give assistance to ensure no relapse. In the event there is no person to monitor the person or give advice, it becomes difficult to follow quitting dictates.

            To conclude, the above and other unmentioned remains as one of the greatest reason making quitting to smoke difficult.
