Disaster Recovery Action Plan

Disaster Recovery Action Plan
Business Function:
Hill skiers at the Giants Ridge
Problem:
The failure of the E-brake chairlift on the Sarajevo Lift
Description:
The recovery plan describes the mode of responding to the Sarajevo chair lift break failure that results to the gliding back of the failed chairlift unto the well working chairlift leading to the collision of skiers coming down the hill and climbing up the hill.
Immediate Action:
1.      Make a call to the Sarajevo maintenance personnel immediately. Explain to them the situation of the scene that the chairlift E-brake has failed and has glided back colliding with other chairlift. One of the affected chairlift has dislodged way from the lift line and has tumbled onto the ground. It had some occupants (mention the number of occupants if you are sure) that have been pinned beneath the tumbled lift. This will enable the shutdown of the lift line to reduce on the impact
2.      Call the 911 for the rescue of the injured skiers. At the Giants Ridge Ski Area a chairlift on the Sarajevo Lift line has failed the E-brakes. The chair has glided back colliding with the other injuring the skiers. One of the chairlift has dislodged from the lift and it has pinned the occupants beneath.
3.      Inform the Giant Ridge Ski management of the instance.
4.      Notify both the  primary and secondary support personnel.
Primary Support:
Sarajevo Lift maintenance personnel
Secondary Support:
Patrollers, Giant Ridge personnel and the ski school instructors
Mitigation Actions:
  1. Try your best to rescue the pinned chair occupants.
  2. Remove destructive objectives around the scene area such sharp sticks, stones and any other hard object.
  3. Secure a place for first aid to the injured.
Recovery Actions:
1.   Develop a plan for recovery by identifying the major recovery team
2.   Assign them the tasks along with roles they play
3.   Rescue the persons stuck on the lift
4.   Develop a strategy for repairing the lift and putting in place sensors and automating the machines
