Diversity matters in organizations as
more diverse organizations can win the top talent and also improve their
customer orientation, decision-making, and employee satisfaction all leading to
increased returns. Different kinds of diversity such as experience, sexual
orientation, and age tend to offer a certain level of competitive advantage to
the company that may attract and also retain diverse talent (Loren &
Herring 2014). Diversity is important in the organization as it tend to
increase creativity.
When the organization has different people from various
backgrounds, it ends up getting better solutions to some business problems.
Having people from different cultures is usually a great advantage to the
organization. Diversity also makes the organization to be more interesting as
people have a chance of learning from others and it also helps to attract
better talent from across the world (Loren & Herring 2014). An organization
with a diverse workforce has a better chance of attracting different people
that would not apply for positions at the organization. The company also gets a
good reputation of having fair employment practices.
Corporate social responsibility of a
firm includes all the moral and legal responsibilities towards other people
including external and internal community (Hiss, 2009). I think that the role
of corporate social responsibility varies from one country to another. The CSR
roles are different among countries as they may be responding to diversity and
complexity of government, society, and corporate roles (Nguyen &
Boubaker2014). At the minimum, corporate
social responsibility includes environmental issues; however, it also takes on
the governance, ethical, social, healthy, and many other issues. Therefore, the
CSR in one country or in one region may not be the same as the role in the
other country or region.
