Morgan, Flora, D. B., Kroner, G., Mills, F., Varghese,  & Steffan, J. S. (2012) Treating offenders with mental illness research synthesis. Law and human behavior, 36(1), 37.
Morgan and colleagues (2012) in this article aim to examine treatment interventions that are effective for offenders who have the mental illness. They use research synthesis method to find the best interventions that can help offenders with mental illness to improve their coping skills reduce distress symptoms, improve behavioral functioning and institutional adjustment. The researchers search through the abstracts in Social Science, MEDLINE, and PsycINFO databases to show the treatment efforts targeting offenders with mental illness.
The article differs from the earlier study by Cox, Lenz, & James, (2015) which only focused on the effectiveness of ARRAY program for assisting inmates with psychological problems. The article by Morgan et al., (2014) covers a wide range of interventions such as psychosocial, medications, psycho-educational among others.

Just like the ARRAY Program, these interventions in the second article also mention the effectiveness of the interventions. The benefit is to help offenders having mental illness in improvising coping skills, reducing distress symptoms, improving behavioral functioning and establishing institutional adjustment. Both the articles are of benefit to psychologists as well as other professionals specializing in mental health since they get to learn comprehensive information on best ways of handling and prodding treatment to offenders who have a mental illness.
Through the articles, they will be in a position of evaluating the effectiveness of the interventions and treatments. The ARRAY program as well as other interventions discussed in the second article help to improve the abilities of offenders to cope with the mental challenge, they help them reduce symptoms, improve their behavioral outcomes and adjust to the institution.
