Discussion question 1 and 2

Critical analysis and synthesis of conceptual framework
The conceptual framework of the study is the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory. The needs theory claim that to attract the most basic needs adequately, a person, will not seek to satisfy the higher needs. Maslow (1970) proposes that people are born with a set of needs. The five needs proposed include belongingness, self-actualization, physiological, esteem, and safety.

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory applies in this study as it can help suggest how managers can lead their employees to become self-actualized. The needs theory tends to apply to the organizational orientation and also employee motivation. It has a dual role to employee and organization in that both employees and organization must decide on the performance of the organization. According to the theory, organizations should reflect the needs of employees, and when the needs are culturally focused, performance will improve tremendously in the organization.

Jerome, N., Teru, S., Douglas, H., & Titus, A (2013). Does motivation drive employee’s performance in public sector organization? European Journal of the Business and Management, 5(7)
According to Jerome et al. every organization tends to have a principal, goal of achieving the objective set of the organization. The authors offer an extensive discussion of how employers can work to help increase the performance of employees and also their commitment to the organization. Thus, this article is of great relevance to the area of study in the research proposal.
