Human resource management

Project title
How employee motivation affects organizational, financial performance.

Statements of research purpose
The purpose of the research is to examine the relationship between employee motivation and financial performance of the organization.

Research questions
  1. How does the organization motivate its employees?
  2. What is the role of motivation on the financial performance of the organization?
  3. Does employee motivation have any relationship with organization’s financial performance?

Proposed methods
Data for the research topic will be collected using interview method. The choice of this method was informed by the ability of the method to provide detailed information about the topic. An interview will also allow more detailed questioned to be asked. Interviews also achieve a higher response rate compared to other methods of data collection. It will also be possible to clarify and follow up on responses and incomplete answers. Precise wording will be tailored to respondents, and precise meanings of questions clarified. The process will enable the capturing of verbal and non-verbal cues. This will enable accurate screening for the purpose of data analysis.
Method of recruiting research participants
Successful recruitment of research participants is a key aspect of the success of a research project. The major goal of recruitment will be to enroll the required number of eligible participants with the available resources and within the projected timeline. For the purpose of this research, direct recruitment will be carried out. The research questions have guided the recruitment method in order to identify and invite participants who meet the study criteria and those who represent the richest and most complex source of data relevant to the research question. The research participants will be from the finance and accounting department of the organization. The research participants will be informed about the study through an e-mail. The electronic mail will ask the prospective participant to call for additional information or send an email if they will be interested in participating in the study. The e-mail will be brief but will include information about how the participant was identified, the contribution he will be required to make if he participates and an overview of any potential benefits or risks. It will also let the potential participant know how to respond if they wish to participate or not to participate. It will also avail information on where to get answers to additional questions, the name of the researcher and the purpose of the study. Close attention to all aspects of recruitment will help in the successful launching of the project.
Criteria for selecting research participants
Purposive sampling will be applied in selecting the research participants. Purposive research is also known as selective, judgmental or subjective sampling. Purposive sampling is a type of a non-probability sampling technique where the units that are investigated are based on the researcher judgment. The reason for selecting purposive sampling is to enable the researcher to focus on particular characteristics of a population that are of interest. By selecting employees from the finance and accounting department, the researcher will be able to answer the research questions. Purposive sampling as a type of research design that necessitate researcher to take a decision about the individual participants who would more likely contribute appropriate data in terms of depth and relevance. The choice of purposive sampling technique was also necessitated by its ability to ensure minimum variations by picking a narrow range of variations on dimensions in common patterns. It will also be possible to increase focus and simplify analysis of the homogeneous factors
Estimated number of participants
The researcher estimates a sample size of 50 participants. This will be necessary for in-depth research. The sample size chosen will maximize the chances of uncovering mean differences. The size of the sample will also increase the chances of significance because it will reliably reflect the sample mean. It will also give the researcher the opportunity to detect a difference.
